Our Student Assistants

Student assistants play crucial roles assisting staff in the John H. Martinson Honors Program. In addition to the two co-executive directors of the Honors Leadership Council, we have two Help Desk Assistants, a Makerspace Assistant, and an Impact Year Content and Engagement Assistant.

Student assistants play vital roles in keeping the the JMHP running smoothly. They help with marketing and communications, alumni programming, event planning, and our makerspace, among many other things.

Aarush Lanjharia

Aarush Lanjharia (he/him)

Year: 2nd
Major: Computer Science
JMHP Role: Makerspace Student Assistant

I handle all the operations and maintenance for the JMHP Makerspace, which includes everything from requesting new tools and managing inventory to preventative maintenance and performing repairs and creating training videos and ensuring student safety. A recent project I worked on was creating an automated system that scans tool logs and status to ensure that only trained students are using the equipment and that everything remains in safe working order.
I love building things in my free time, and working directly with different tools like the 3D printers and the Cricut allow me to not only make my ideas come to life, but also help other students with the same! And this also allows me to learn from other students and see their creations, allowing me to gain even more ideas about how I can improve and how I can improve the space.
I'm currently working on researching and writing proposals to bring more machines and tools to the JMHP makerspace! I'm also working on writing software to allow students to view the live status of the different machines remotely so they can see from their rooms if a machine is available to use before they come down to use it and I'm really excited to get that up and running in the near future!
One advice I'd give to my fellow students is to get out and have fun. Classes, learning and studying are important but having time to do things you like, going to clubs you enjoy going to (not just going to them for connections), hanging out with the people you enjoy hanging out with are all more important things. Doing so will also keep you much more prepared and willing to learn when you do have to focus on classes.
One of my main hobbies is doing magic tricks, so I even created my own club at Georgia Tech called Magicians @ GT! I also love building things, so you'll often find me at the Hive (where I'm a PI) building something random if I'm not working or in class!

Sandhya Rajesh

Sandhya Rajesh, 20th Impact Year Content and Engagement Intern, Business Administration (Marketing Concentration)
As an intern for the Spring 2026 and Fall 2026 semesters, I will be responsible for helping craft the JMHP 20th Anniversary Impact Report, assisting with 20th anniversary celebration planning and executions, and storytelling/interviewing alumni. Finding cool stories, telling them in an impactful way, and sharing the inspiration with the JMHP and broader community is my primary goal.
My favorite part about my role is getting to tell real, inspiring stories! I love getting to know about what motivates people, how they have chosen and forged their paths, and learning from the advice they share. Something I am super excited about is working on graphic design initiatives using Adobe InDesign and Canva to create content and the Impact Report to develop my marketing and creative skillsets.
In the Honors Program, I adore getting to work with students who are excited about, in short, making the world a better place in any way we can. Every day I am inspired by my fellow cohort’s talents and accomplishments, and I love finding key takeaways that I can use as I pursue my own projects. Interviewing HP members and asking the right questions has been a big element of this.
My biggest piece of advice is to take initiative to create opportunities or find new ones! Sometimes your dream role is only an email, application, or call away…. Or something you create all by yourself! Don’t limit yourself to what ‘everyone else’ does if you do not think it’s a good fit for YOU and YOUR goals. Take advantage of all the opportunities that come your way and find ways to create new opportunities, like starting a passion project, long term initiative, a club, or reaching out to make new connections!
Fun fact: I love to draw and have recently been obsessed with architectural sketching and line art. I love to travel, take pictures, and draw the buildings and scenes I see! I’m also a content creator (@sunnydaywithsandy) and enjoy editing short form videos to inspire joy :) Outside of my JMHP Internship, I am also a dancer on GT Nazaaqat Bollywood Dance Team, a student writer for 3484 Magazine, VP of Marketing for The Women’s Network chapter at Georgia Tech, a member of the Society of Women in Business, and a Pentel Student Ambassador!

As a Help Desk Assistant, I primarily help with marketing and communications such as social media post creation, video editing, and website article writing. Additionally, I’ve assisted with program proposal writing, JMHP application reading, and administrative tasks, as needed.
My favorite part about my role is the opportunity to explore my passions and grow in the marketing and communications space. I’ve further developed my skills in social media marketing and brand marketing in the role, while learning new areas of the space including program proposal creation and program strategy development.
My favorite part of the John H. Martinson Honors Program is the community built on interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. Through working on building centered on building community in HLC to taking a variety of JMHP classes that discuss different academic areas such as computing and society, biology, and 3D animation research via the VIP program, the JMHP has provided me with an environment to pursue my passions and love for film and media in a comprehensive way as I partake on my journey to become a strategic and creative marketer.
I’m currently working on content creation for the John H. Martinson Honors Program’s social media pages, articles for the website, and strategic planning for the upcoming 20th anniversary. I’m excited about learning video editing and expanding on my skills in brand marketing and content strategy for upcoming JMHP projects!
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new things! Exploring growth opportunities here in the John H. Martinson Honors Program and Georgia Tech including academic coursework, student organizations, research, and employment has given me a well-rounded skillset and mindset to become the diverse, adaptable leader I aspire to be. It is important to have a diverse mindset and skillset to adapt to the world’s challenges, so please take the time to explore everything the Honors Program and Tech has to offer to find your passions and achieve your dreams!
I like to play video games in my spare time, mostly mobile strategy superhero RPGs (Marvel Strike Force, DC: Dark Legion, DC Worlds Collide). I also like to read and watch anime (my favorite is Haikyu!! and I recently started watching Hunter x Hunter).
On campus, I’m the President of Suit Up Professional Preparation, Vice President of Events for The Women’s Network, and Direct Marketing Manager for Georgia Tech Esports. I also work on the Marketing Team for HexLabs, the Community Building Committee for the Honors Leadership Council, and a member of the John Lewis Student Leadership Pathways (JLSLP). Additionally, I’m also involved in VIP research with the CineInnovate Studios and Students as Partners in Education VIP teams. In the Fall 2025 semester, I served as a JMHP GT 1000 Team Leader.
