Keynote and Welcome Reception: Friday, February 21, 2025

The welcome reception and keynote will be from 5:30 - 7:30 PM in Press Room A & B of the Bill Moore Student Success Center.

Dr. Ed Lee, III

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ed Lee, III, Senior Director of Inclusivity for the Emory College of Arts and Sciences and Senior Director of the Alben W. Barkley Forum for Debate, Deliberation, and Dialogue, which houses Emory’s nationally acclaimed debate team and its cutting-edge dialogue programs.

Dr. Lee, III will speak about "Leveraging C.A.R.E to Ensure Our Pursuit of Progress and Service Betters the Human Condition."  We will explore “care” as a community-building and sustaining tool that leverages our shared vulnerabilities and interdependence to make “progress” more likely.  Additionally, we will explore care as a communication practice that features curiosity, attentiveness, responsiveness, and empathy. This will be discussed in the context of the lives of fellow Georgians who exemplified these traits as they served and planted seeds for social progress.
