John H. Martinson Honors Program (JMHP) students admitted in fall 2026 or after are required to take a foundational course.

In the three-credit foundational course, students will learn how they can uniquely contribute to tackling the world’s most challenging issues. Students will practice defining problems from multiple perspectives while they explore their professional values. As part of this course, students will get a first look at “beyond-the-classroom" learning opportunities in their discipline.

Foundational courses will be offered by various Schools and Colleges and by the John H. Martinson Honors Program.
